Occupied Warren… Tick Tock

The event date for the Occupied Warren Public Art Project is less than two and a half weeks away. Artists, like Josh Ford, finished their installation a week or two ago. For him, everything between now and the event date is helping out or doing light touch-ups to his art installation. For others, things are running at a frantic pace. Their location, the weather or the demands of life slowed own their process. However, viewing from the outside, I know they’ll have everything ready in time. As for me, the more progress each artist makes, the more complicated by tasks get.

I set a few rules for the team before starting this project. High on the list was not to take any photographs of the artist’s finished work or anything that would reveal too much about their art installation. Naturally, the further along they get into their project, the less revealing the photographs can be. Adjusting for this, we decided to create storytelling content that didn’t focus so much on the rooms. It’s a series of audio interviews with a twist at the end. It’s part of a series we call Sound + Wisdom. This particular series will focus on the artists. The twist? You’ll have to “listen, then see. ”

Of course, photographs and video clips will continue to be featured, but somewhere near the opening of the Occupied Warren Project, you’ll start to see Sound + Wisdom content.

Don’t forget, if you’re Instagram savvy, you can check out more Occupied Warren content on the D5 Instagram channel @thed5group. Be sure to read the other blog posts, if you haven’t.

The Occupied Warren Exhibition opening is June 8th and 9th in the City of Warren, Ohio’s Garden District. The address is 232 Vine Avenue NE. For more information about the project click here.
